Some
Thoracic conditions may include:
- Poor
Posture
- Improper
Breathing
- Organ
Dysfunction
Poor
Posture
- The mid-back or Thoracic spine is a common area for postural problems
to occur.
Subluxated
joints do not allow the spine to assume the normal, upright, and correct
posture that is associated with good health and optimal function. Chiropractic
care helps restore joints to their normal position allowing the body
to correct postural problems. Maintaining a subluxation-free body is
a first step to achieving good posture. This allows for better health
now and more graceful aging as life progresses on.
BACK
Improper Breathing
- Stiffness in the joints between the thoracic spine and the ribs
can cause decreased motion in the rib cage thus causing decreased expansion
of the chest and lungs.
When
the ribs don't expand as they should, the body doesn't get as much oxygen
as it needs and decreased health is the result. About 30% of normal
breathing capacity is due to the ability of the rib joints to glide
smoothly along your thoracic (mid-back) vertebrae. Injury, poor posture,
and muscle imbalance can cause subluxated joints between the ribs and
the spine. When this occurs, full motion of the rib cage and oxygen
intake is diminished.
BACK
Organ Dysfunction
- Subluxated joints may decrease the delicate nerve supply from
the spinal cord to the tissues of the body.
Every organ and tissue will function based on its own nerve supply.
When subluxations of the thoracic spine go uncorrected, nerve supply
to the organs is altered and dysfunction may result. Nerves which service
the majority of our internal organs exit through small holes between
our thoracic vertebrae. Thus, a healthy, subluxation-free spine will
promote optimum health.
